這部 10 集新劇描述一個家庭站在頗具爭議的群眾運動「朝聖之路」的中心——人際關係、婚姻、權力……挑戰一個接一個。劇情將深度解讀每個人都會遇到的矛盾：現實生活和夢想生活的矛盾。該劇創作人堅稱該劇情節並非建立在「科學神教」（或者叫做山達基教，Scientology）的基礎上。 在美國，「科學神教」是合法宗教，但它的性質（真宗教還是真邪教）一直都有爭議。 上世紀七十年代，軍隊精神病專家 Stephen Meyer 創建了「朝聖之路」教派。這是一個毒品泛濫、充滿神秘色彩和各種末日預言的宗教組織，他們甚至會討論全球氣候變化和恐怖主義等話題。對 Meyer 醫生的追隨者來説，逃離「人為災難」並且在「伊甸園」重生的唯一方法就是參與他的精神運動。Meyer 醫生如今不知去向，但忠實信徒們堅信他正在某處撰寫上帝賜豫的「最終啟示錄」。

已收錄 3A major revelation in the early episodes rocks the movement and the series’ foundation; it’s a bold development and one that opens up the series to relevant real-world parallels. It’s tough to say more without giving away the twist, but it’s worth noting how it could’ve sent the show spiraling into soap, and instead, only gave it more power.
Even with the hasty resolution of some storylines, the season's last few episodes still end up feeling overstuffed. They never, however, feel aimless.
Season 2 works to lure the audience into understanding corruption, demands you accept its role in life, and promptly slaps you in the face for considering it. The lessons are harsh and delivered with greater conviction. Guided by strong performances all around, each character feels like they’re living on the edge of a revelation.
