The first chunk of episodes in Bridgerton Season 3 are an ecstatic delight. Bridgerton might have a new showrunner in long-time writer Jess Brownell, but the world is still as enchanting and romantic as ever. .... This season is truly a showcase for new leading lady Nicola Coughlan. The Irish actress absolutely sparkles as wallflower-turned-heroine Penelope Featherington.
As with most of Bridgerton’s stories, nothing about this is particularly subtle. But damn if it still isn’t incredibly affecting. Coughlan and Newton’s chemistry remains sweetly adorable. .... This season largely belongs to Coughlan, who shines as Penelope and runs the gamut from furious to heartbroken to deeply indecisive.
What season two lacks in sex montages it makes up for in emotional resonance.
The costumes are beautiful. The actors are on point. It's a show that knows exactly what it is, but beautifully achieves that while also still layering in some surprises and modern twists. Turn your nose up at it, if you like. But you'll miss out on some of the year's most enjoyable television yet.

Bridgerton has truly been a bright spot in my life. As a 16-year-old who struggles with anxiety, watching Eloise, played by Claudia Jessie, brought me so much comfort and joy. She is witty, bold, and unapologetically herself — and seeing her on screen made me feel braver and less alone. Claudia Jessie’s portrayal is phenomenal, and I admire her so much both as an actor and as a person. Thank you for bringing Eloise to life and for inspiring me to be confident, curious, and funny. If you ever saw this, I’d love to know: what did you enjoy most about bringing Eloise’s personality to the screen? Also sad to have to wait months for a new season. (Hopefully it will be Eloises turn).
Incredible season through Sophie, we are introduced to the harsh life of those who truly WORK in society. It was amazing to see beyond the obvious. Yerin and Luke absolutely owned this season.

I don't really have a whole lot to say about this one. The romance is pretty generic and boring to me, but the characters are interesting at least. Season 1 is bad, but it really improves from there.

Dearest gentle reader, it appears as though it is Miss Penelope Featherington's time to sparkle at last. While this longtime wallflower truly does glimmer this season, her longtime friend, Mr. Colin Bridgerton, appears to have lost his true charm. This author is a firm believer that Mr. Bridgerton was most charming when he was not putting on such a facade to do so. I declare! It appears Mr. Bridgerton's travels may have made somewhat of a rake of our usually kindhearted hero. Is Mr. Colin Bridgerton's new look, and new character one might add, here to stay? Or will Colin's newfound feelings for one Miss Penelope Featherington pull out the Colin this author knows and loves from underneath the facade? Late watching this much talked show and enjoyed it. Fairytale romance with great chemistry. Kudos for the diverse casting.
Season 1 is a fresh, charming and modern take on what really boils down to "pretty rich people falling in love". But it's fun, well-produced, engaging and well-paced. It doesn't take itself too seriously, and neither should the audience. Season 2 tries to be more of the same, but is let down by less interesting characters, a meandering plot and a lack of real stakes or drama. It's too much like soap-opera and suffers from the same issues. Season 1 is a solid 8, but Season 2 barely a 6.
