You may appreciate the flair and poignancy Elementary brings to the crowded procedural field, and the energy, wit and sex appeal Miller brings to his role.

I guess seeds of this show demise could have been seen from getgo. Started as very promising and interesting show, easily 8/10 in first season, but devolved into progressive trash by the end, -3/10. Main problem with this show was progressive politics, like it happens quite often. Like Joan Watson being stronk independent wahman. And her "independence" becoming more and more prominent as seasons went by. By the end of the show Sherlock was nothing more but an accessory to a clearly far more intelligent and overall superior Watson. Sherlock Holmes, initially rather interesting character, gradually devolved into nothing more but simp for Watson. Periodically playing idiot when it came to medicine, with Watson somehow having rather detailed knowledge from pretty much every medical field one can imagine and conveniently knowing all the right things at the right time. And there was quite a lot of such events, where fairly obvious conclusions were intentionally left for Watson to figure out. Holmes familial relations generally amounted to nothing over run of the show. None of them were fully developed and most of them were just left hanging there. Why most of it was in the show is unclear. Sherlock simping for Watson got so pathetic by the end of the show, that was painful to watch. Every season there was 3-4 instances of Sherlock making decisions that would affect them both, with her berating him for it and him apologizing. Just for her doing the same and more of him apologizing. Because apparently when she does it, its ok. In general there was clear narrative that Sherlock just could not live without Joan in his life. Constantly bending backwards to please her. There was also part when Sherlock Will was shown and of course he left most of his money to Joan. With part of it left to "very effective" gun buyback program, even tho all the evidence show that this crap does not work in real life. Villains were another extremely weak aspect of the show. Very interesting and strong initial presentation usually amounted to nothing. Moriarty, who was invisible and constant threat to Holmes in books, turned out to be without any substance. She was introduced, she was paraded around a bit and then she was gone, only to be mentioned here and there over remaining run of the show. And same happened with all other wannabe-antagonists for Holmes. They were completely underdeveloped and left very shallow mark. Another severely negative aspect of the show is as show went by more and more time has been wasted on pointless exposition and barely any of actual detective work. From 5th season onward time was equally split between detectiving and soap drama, usually leading to nothing. They have a crime, they are investigating it, getting nowhere, then boom, deus ex machina, case solved. Clear political narratives of leftist variety have been getting more and more prominent as show went on. For example over entirety of the show Sherlock toon on 3 protegees, of course all of them were women. Season 6 villain, Michael, probably the most promising of them all - cunning, intelligent, cold, calculating - went on vacation after few episodes in the beginning of the season and then was killed offscreen in episode before last. All that was done so that they could waste last episode of the season to sing praises to Joan Watson(seriously, like half the characters in this episode had a tirade about how amazing Watson is) and so that Sherlock could finally mutate in his final form of white knight, by falling on his sword for another wahman(a murderer), for what he, as real cuck, could be then berated by Joan. And season 7 was culmination of all this crap, dialed to 11. Sherlock simply blackmailing FBI official out of murder charge(after admitting to it), because he is now on "right side of history", being qualified white knight. Or him moralized another guy, who was stealing other individuals personal information for "noble" purposes, doing exact same thing Sherlock was doing. But "its ok when we do it", as per usual with this crowd. Puke inducing self-aggrandizing. In general season 7 was so bad, that i simply could not finish it. 4 episodes that i will never watch.

Miller and Liu, simultaneously irritating and charming each other, make Elementary far more watchable than anybody could have expected.
