Pretty much all a fan (or critic) could ask of a cult series remake is this: Does the newbie measure up? Based on all available evidence--the 42-minute premiere--the answer is yes.

The latest incarnation, Nikita, which begins on the CW network on Thursday, is a surprisingly sophisticated and satisfying adaptation.

Putting aside for a moment questions about whether it signifies the imminent collapse of Western civilization and even the human reproductive impulse, this version of Nikita can still provide a rollicking, if slightly psychotic, good time.

Nikita is a breakthrough for teen-happy CW, its riskiest show yet--one aimed at adults. It's one they might enjoy.

Though Nikita is certainly dark, it's not as unbearably so as the USA cable version, which was too slick and soulless for its own good. The new version feels much more like a rollicking popcorn thrill ride.

CW's Nikita remake isn't nearly as awful as you'd imagine. In fact, it's remarkably good.

Nikita is probably The CW’s most purely entertaining show at the moment, and it brazenly promises to be its best self now that it’s coming into the home stretch, wrapping up its loose ends with what amounts to a concluding, six-episode miniseries.

I’m gay for Nikita, hair flips and fashion! Love when they breath in before delivering a line, Percy, and Amanda are hilarious to me in the best ways possible. Oh and “Alexandra Udiknov” is so much fun to say. I love this show

Je ne sais pas pourquoi ils ont gardé le titre « Nikita », car on est à des années-lumière de l’excellent film de Luc Besson… On erre ici comme un pauvre hère dans les méandres pitoyables (qui en deviennent pittoresques !) de la série commerciale américaine de merde typique, écrite au pochoir par des pochards cocaïnomanes. Curieux que la belle Maggie Q se soit fourvoyée dans un tel capharnaüm mais il faut croire qu’elle a la tête pleine d’eau en définitive. On a donc un mélange de ridicule, d’improbable et de stupidité qui s’ignore. On a également beaucoup d’ennui et de bavardages sans intérêt. Tout cela est navrant et maladroit : une série de merde bien merdique !
