故事發生在位於佐治亞州的帕薩豪小鎮，當地教堂的唱詩班即將去參加一個名為“快樂噪音”的全國性比賽，可是，就在這個節骨眼上，唱詩班的總指揮卻猝死了，失去了指揮的領導，整個唱詩班都走到了瀕臨崩潰的邊緣。教會指派名叫羅斯（奎恩·拉提法 Queen Latifah 飾）女子成為了唱詩班的新指揮，羅斯是一個非常古板的人，希望所有的事情都能按照常規發生，而總指揮的遺孀斯派洛（多莉·帕頓 Dolly Parton 飾）卻並不這麼認為，她覺得唱詩班應該由她接手，並且應該嘗試新的風格。

A Joyful Noise overcomes. The big numbers are a gospel-pop-funk fusion that made me think, Hmmm, this seems very processed - before I noticed my feet were tapping of their own accord. How can you resist that wah-wah funk guitar?
