every.film is a collaboratively maintained reference database for film and television metadata, operated by an individual rather than a company. These Terms of Use govern your access to the every.film website, its data, and its programming interfaces (together, the “Service”). By browsing the site, creating an account, or calling the API, you accept these Terms together with our Privacy Policy; if you do not accept them, please do not use the Service.
The Service
every.film aims to be an authoritative, openly licensed catalogue of films and television series. Records are assembled from several upstream sources — including TMDB, IMDb, and Douban — and are refined by community contributors who submit corrections, translations, ratings, and reviews. The metadata we publish is made available under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 licence (CC-BY-SA 4.0). Read access to the API requires no key and is subject to rate limits. Writing through the site requires only a signed-in account; write access through the API and the TMDB-compatible endpoints requires an approved credential — an API key or an administrator-approved account binding — which may be revoked.
Third-Party Sources
Portions of our metadata and images originate from TMDB, IMDb, Douban, and other upstream providers. Titles, artwork, trademarks, and other referenced works remain the property of their respective rights holders; every.film claims no ownership over them. We cannot guarantee that aggregated information is complete, current, or correct. If you reuse data that derives from an upstream source, you are responsible for observing any terms that source imposes. Our CC-BY-SA grant extends only to the rights every.film actually holds; it does not cover, or lift, rights that upstream providers may retain in their material.
Accounts
Signing in is handled through our own identity service at auth.every.film. When you register or use an account, you agree that:
- the information you provide is truthful and kept reasonably up to date;
- you will keep your credentials confidential and are responsible for activity that occurs under your account;
- you will maintain only one account per person and will not share, sell, or transfer it.
Your Contributions
Signed-in users can contribute in two ways: public contributions — metadata edits, new-record proposals, and comments — and personal records — the ratings and marks kept on your account. You may only submit content that you have the right to submit; do not paste in text, images, or data that copyright or a third party's terms forbid you from redistributing.
By submitting a public contribution, you license it to every.film and to the public under CC-BY-SA 4.0. That license is irrevocable, the contribution is publicly visible, and it is attributed to your account name — contribute only what you are comfortable publishing on those terms. Ratings and marks are treated differently: marks stay private to your account, and ratings feed the aggregate scores shown on media pages without your name attached; neither is published as an attributed work.
Metadata edits and new-record proposals are applied only after review in our moderation queue; comments and ratings appear immediately and may be reviewed, edited, or removed afterwards where they violate these Terms or degrade data quality. You may delete your account at any time; published public contributions remain part of the public record under their licence, but on request we will remove the attribution that links them to your name.
Acceptable Use
You agree that, in connection with the Service, you will not:
- deliberately falsify, vandalise, or degrade catalogue data;
- post spam, advertising, or repetitive low-value submissions;
- circumvent rate limits, harvest the site in bulk outside the documented API, or disguise automated traffic;
- impersonate every.film, its moderators, or any other person, or misrepresent an affiliation with us;
- submit content that is unlawful or that infringes the rights of others;
- probe, disrupt, or attempt to bypass the security or integrity of the Service.

Disclaimers, Liability, and Termination
The Service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind. It aggregates data from external sources and volunteer contributors, so entries may be missing, outdated, or wrong, and availability may be interrupted without notice. We make no promise that the Service is fit for any particular purpose, and you use it at your own risk.
every.film is a free, individually operated project. To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential losses, nor for damage arising from reliance on the data, from service interruptions, or from the conduct of other users.
Termination
Where these Terms are violated — including in cases of repeat copyright infringement — we may suspend or terminate the accounts involved and revoke API keys. You may stop using the Service or delete your account at any time; the licences you have granted over already-published contributions survive, as described above.
Changes and Contact
We may revise these Terms from time to time. The updated version will be posted on this page with a new revision date, and your continued use of the Service after that date constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
