Noel Murray · Los Angeles Times 60.00/100.00

None of this is as deep as it intends to be, nor will it strike science-fiction devotees as especially novel. But Sackhoff’s Mack is such a vivid, well-rounded character that “2036” still works. It’s like a stage play, crossed with one of the more philosophical old pulp magazine short stories.

This movie attempts to explore some interesting ideas. Unfortunately I don't think anyone in this movie has the acting gravitas to make the presentation of these ideas work. Also a factor is that the original author also wrote the screenplay as well as directed it. I think the ideas might have benefited by other viewpoints that balanced and leavened any tendency to take things too far or leave them partially unexplained. It's an ambitious plot, but suffers in the end from a bit too much of an M. Night Shyamalan pretentious twist.

Sci-fi movie with Katie Sackhoff in the lead. It's a rip off of 2001: A Space Odyssey 'cept this story's rubbish and the CGI and 'special effects' look like they've been done on Photoshop. Avoid.
