Kai—an outcast—joins Oishi, the leader of 47 outcast samurai. Together they seek vengeance upon the treacherous overlord who killed their master and banished their kind. This one never quite decides if it wants to be a big, boisterous epic or a solemn retelling, and it nearly disappears into the crack between the two.
观感和《无极》非常相似，大片模式下人物行为简单粗暴，缺乏合理的逻辑，情感的铺陈被其他商业元素压榨到极少，使人完全无法连结。看似是在日本古代发生的故事，却和日本没什么关系。一堆的日本演员说着古怪的英语，本土人说非母语，故事核心和日本并非必然联系。动作的设计和人物的行为也非常现代化，本质上就是借壳诞生的商业动作奇幻片，还拍的不伦不类的，整个欧美气质混合日本复仇故事，实在是不搭。本片的女性也完全沦为工具。PS.柴崎幸和田中泯05年才在《彩虹老人院》里演过对父女对手戏，13年就又在一起演父女。
