After arriving at his new, remote Army outpost, Capt. John Boyd and his regiment aid a wounded frontiersman who recounts a horrifying tale of a wagon train murdered by its supposed guide – a vicious U.S. Army colonel gone rogue. Fearing the worst, the regiment heads out into the wilderness to verify the gruesome claims.

An eccentric historical horror tale whose blackly comic tone wavers distracting.
小时候看的，当时非常震撼……并且产生了两种感觉，一是肉好恶心，再也不想吃肉了，二是深深地好奇人肉到底是什么味道，吃了能不能增长力量……长大了也就忘了，毕竟是小孩胡思乱想，直到2025年，知道了并不仅仅是爱泼斯坦岛上，而是美国社会里真实存在的字面意义上的人吃人的现象，远比公开舆论上想象得普遍得多，才重新搜到这部电影看了一下——还真是无意中道出了真相：美国是一个伟大的国家，建立在吃人的基础之上，印第安人就是被活生生吃光了，而白人确确实实就是印第安神话中提到的，由于长期吃同类而变得像白鬼一样的温迪戈。它们停不下来，永远停不下来。
Bird's grim, picture-perfect direction -- the Sierras are more character than backdrop, and everything else looks like it's already been digested and expelled -- augments what is frankly a small, albeit lusterless, gem of a horror show, for once with as many smarts as body parts.
