Like “The Shining” and its maze within a maze, Mr. Ascher’s movie is something of a labyrinth. Puzzling your way through its compilation of vaguely lucid and crackpot ideas is pleasurable though, for avid movie lovers, it may also feel like a warning.
This is one of the most asinine and idiotic movies that I have ever seen. Don't waste your time with this giant collection of movie clips ( spoiler, most aren't clips from the shining movie). So random movie clips play while some pompous narcissistic movie critic blathers about how amazing and magical the movie was. Or how Stanley Kubrick was such a genius. Neither of which seem true to me. Just be warned if you decide to waste your life with this smoldering 2 hour pile of bovine excrement.
The effect of Room 237 is intense. It’s a deep dive into the rabbit hole of semiotics, designed to train viewers to become alert to what they’re really seeing.
