The movie's climax is enough to provoke genuine tears, and not just from fans of the West Germany squad.
This is a relatively easy watch - its mildly amusing at times and features some decent characters. The cast includes Helena Bonham Carter and Catherine Tate. It's not a particularly good film, nor is it awful but it passes the time ok. I did feel there was a nice sense of British family life at the time it's set (the 1960s) and it had a bit of heart to it, so I'm giving it this rating. I would recommend this film, yes.
In the end, though, Weiland ("Made of Honor") pours so much heart into his autobiographically "true-ish" story that accessibility is a nonissue.
