One way ticket to DEATH..!
Holmes and Watson board a passenger train bound from London to Edinburgh, to guard the Star of Rhodesia, an enormous diamond worth a fortune belonging to an elderly woman of wealth; but within the first hour of the trip, the woman's son is murdered and the diamond stolen and any of the passengers in their car could be the killer thief.

5.7。其实前面部分还是不错的：密室杀人、封闭的火车环境、几位让人怀疑的嫌疑人。只可惜后面剧情就崩了，而且到最后结局都没有解释凶手在射杀老太太儿子是如何制造密室的，还有福尔摩斯之所以能识破假警察只是因为他认识真的警察，真是有点无语了。
从《打破玻璃盔甲》中看到本片。手法如何延迟叙事进程；过道活动镜头的调度；火车外部的切出镜头行使的不同功能；古典好莱坞系统本身的标准化指导方针可以让每一部作品从系统中借用复杂性；偏向保守主义的意识形态式样；棺材匠场景借镜位剪接拥有的构成性动机等。
开场的“调换”和结尾的“假扮”，都提前猜到了……但这不是此片（看的彩色版）三星不入的原因。主要问题是死伤了好几口子，福尔摩斯居然还能表现出一种尽在我控的神情？真不知道你从容不迫的点在哪里！
