Garner gives a remarkable performance, especially considering she has very little dialogue with which to work.
An average film about a serious issue. Well acted by the protagonist, but there's way too much superfluous material, and it drags to the point of almost being boring at times. It should be applauded for calling out all of those sleazy, arrogant and disgustingly mean bosses however. Not sure I'd watch it again in a hurry.
Green’s approach to stories — finding larger truths rather than focusing on the most sensational aspects — vaults The Assistant into extraordinary territory, as it sheds light not only on the actions of abusers in power, but on the people around them, who can’t or won’t do anything to change the status quo.
