Atypical (2017)

It spins its many plates with skill. ... Not every storyline hits the high notes, and there is a definite sense, as the season progresses, that Atypical is winding down, having run its course and said what it needed to say. But it is a beautiful show, celebrating difference, adaptability and an open-hearted approach to life. In the sometimes stagnant world of half-hour sitcoms, it is refreshingly itself.

Season 2 helps further break the preconceived mold that this is "The Autism Family Show." While Sam's disorder provides a unique perspective to the world of Atypical, the show is about so much more than that. Season 2 pushes this even further, as it was supposed to do, and finds new ways to enlighten, inspire and surprise by endearing us deeper to its characters.

The series is as compassionate as it is snarky, pairing a deep understanding about everyday life on the spectrum with a sense of humor rarely found in productions that deal with autism. “Atypical” risks offending some, but it does more good than harm by demystifying a sensitive and painful subject with an unapologetic candor.

Its tone can be inconsistent. With a couple of actors’ actors--Leigh and Rapaport--and Gilchrist at the helm, Atypical still manages to mostly stay on track. It’s a good newcomer with the potential to get better.

It isn’t cute, but it’s mostly sharp and engaging.

At its best, Atypical allows its drama and comedy to come from that genuine, relatable place. It may have a rocky start, but stick with it. Atypical lives up to its title.

What it lacks in originality it makes up for in charming performances and affection for its messy, refreshingly human characters. [11 Aug 2017, p.51]

A show like this sinks or swims on the lead performance, though, and Gilchrist (who previously played gay son Marshall on United States of Tara) makes the whole thing work as Sam. ... Gilchrist’s performance is so strong, in fact, that Atypical suffers a bit whenever Sam’s off-screen.

居然用冰冷的南极小知识讲了个温馨治愈的故事，也许每个人内心都有自闭症的因子，或多或少。抱抱身边愿意陪伴我的人，诚如一只企鹅是无法靠自己取暖的，它们会待在一起取暖。每一集片尾的音乐都好听，讨论区有豆友发歌单真棒

好暖的喜剧//期待S2

低配版的谢耳朵，不是天才，但热爱生物、有严重社交障碍的暖心小哥儿，还有他可爱的一家，轻幽默轻治愈

四星到四星半，一些细节处理的比较好。even真的是……男孩子也好可怜，要猜来猜去毫无头绪。为什么每个性别在恋爱里都是输家？

就是我本人。看完对我自己的社交无能状态没有那么焦虑了。

比起诚恳坦白的青少年们，剧里的大人们各种行为很差劲。想起《Adam》里Hugh Dancy演的“亚斯伯格症”患者，他们有时让人难以接受，但有时又会给出超常的惊喜感动，比如Sam的企鹅项链（那一幕看哭了）。絮絮叨叨但一直忠实陪伴Sam的Zahid超可爱，长得像Zootopia里的树懒。

刚开始以为是遇到恋爱问题低配版的Sheldon 后来觉得是没那么复杂的13 reasons why 最后原来是高阶的无言有爱 表面清新 内里却波涛汹涌呢

xy让看的 太喜欢Sam的房间和他关于南极的trivia~ casey很酷侧脸像Lily Collins 爸爸的梗经常好好笑 说发廊boy不敢come out那里还有cigarettes no那里都笑死了哈哈哈 爸爸超眼熟 感觉客串过好多剧

结局女儿在板子上的留言过于傻逼，强行为第二季制造悬念，其他都还不错

每个人都有自己的弱点。每个人都有化身一座孤岛的时刻。妈妈强悍但神经质，爸爸温暖却也曾逃避。姐姐潇洒，弟弟自闭。好喜欢凯西男朋友的男友力。

「A+」莫名喜欢男主内心喋喋不休的话唠子设定，EP01里面南极的比喻很赞“人们听到南极的第一反应绝对不会认为它是沙漠，人也不可貌相”，基本上就扣剧的主题了吧——有些孤独其实是非典型的 「更新」全刷完了，为妹妹疯狂打call，太喜欢她和男朋友的戏份了，真甜，啊我死了

本剧好感度姐姐Casey>姐夫Evan>治疗师Julia>基友Zahid>爸爸Doug>男主Sam>妈妈Elsa。本剧故事上依旧俗套，男主的敏感与自闭很大程度源于妈妈的过度保护与过度控制，而她妈自己的问题很大程度也是自己作的，对比姐姐，可以看出父母真的很大程度上影响了孩子的性格

好温暖的治愈系小清新，恰到好处的drama感，喜欢Casey，喜欢Zahid，喜欢Pagie，所有角色都很好啦，期待有下一季！

看完本来想要不要像Casey一样跑步不吃猪肉，后来想了想梅菜扣肉、红烧肉、酱骨头、炖猪蹄，果断放弃了这个想法。
