Good Omens (2019)

Good Omens returns after a four-year hiatus with a good story and the same funny chemistry between its stars.

Good Omens season two might be all questions and no answers, but, all the same, it’s a scriptural spectacular.

Be not afraid. I doubted that a second season of this show could work, or that it was even something any of us necessarily needed to see. But after basking in its soft, warm joy—a true rarity in our current bleak television landscape—I cannot deny that its existence feels like nothing so much as divine providence.

It's hard to sense that Aziraphale and Crowley are ever truly in danger, unlike our last outing with them. But, instead, we're given deeper insight into our dysfunctional pair of heroes, a beautiful tale, and an ending that might ask more questions than it answers. In other words, ineffable. Just how we like it.

With season two, Good Omens carries on into the afterlife with glorious chutzpah and an absurdity that sinks its hooks in with glee.

Diverting and mostly pleasurable. ... The BBC Studios production is studded with piquant performances by veteran actors, mostly British.

The script is, unsurprisingly, annunciation-grade, luminously funny and strikingly poignant—and considering the principal characters include angels, demons and witches, (and a tween Antichrist) it’s as human as they come. ... But as good as everything is, as good as everyone is, the locus of this translation’s magic is the to-perish-for chemistry between Michael Sheen’s angel Aziraphale and David Tennant’s demon Crowley.

The story itself falls apart and reassembles several times per each hour-long episode, but when viewed as a collection of clever sketches by master performers it’s a fun frolic — and with a cast of biblical proportions.

Gaiman manages the not-inconsiderable feat of capturing his narrative’s race-against-the-clock propulsion, all while making plenty of time for an overstuffed cast of characters and numerous detours, rewinds, asides and demented flights of fancy. Good Omens boasts an assured sense of tone from the very start. ... Good Omens wouldn’t soar without its two leads, who are so perfectly (mis)matched that they immediately elevate the series to must-see status.

The end result is a feel-good romp and creative triumph that is easily digestible and never flags in search of entertainment.

Linda conclusion de la serie aunque realmente se sintio como un agregado que sobraba bastante la trama del regreso de Jesus, que aporto poco y nada al argumento de la pelicula, reemplazando el armagedon por una trama de misterio que culmina sola, siendo el angel Miguel bastante desaprovechado y peor aun Jesus, el escenario siendo muy vago (el mismo barrio ingles pero con mas suciedad y sin los personajes carismaticos y queridos de la temporada anterior) enfocandose mas en los dialogos e interaccion entre los protagonistas.

Прекрасный и, кажется, самый логичный финал этой непостижимой истории. Прайм правда сделал все возможное, чтобы уместить тот самый не случившийся полноценный сезон в 1,5 часа фильма и думаю, что они смогли это сделать достойно. Сюжет очень грамотно закольцован. История началась в саду и закончилась в нём же. Да, гг пожертвовали собой, но они всегда ставили человечество выше собственного счастья. И всё же, когда они перестали быть ответственными за этот мир, они наконец-то выбрали друг друга. Идеально!У меня нет претензий к этому фильму. Многое готов прощать опираясь на то, что весь сценарий пришлось делить на 3, а это не мало. Будь больше хронометража и мы бы полу си ли шедевр чистой воды, но имеем что имеем. Спасибо вам, Нил Гейман и Терри Пратчетт. Спасибо за то, что показали ЛЮБОВЬ во всех её красках. Чистую и душевную.

So rushed and plotholes. Why Charakters are complete different. Nothing leand about crowly as an Angel nothing

Why!?!? Why?!!?? It started so good. Friggin why!?!? About 3/4 of first season were excellent, absolutely amazing. And then ending landed like a wet fart, with bunch of kids effectively "manifesting" away handful of the most powerful beings in existence. Something that made zero sense. Half the season it was a bit chaotic, but overall good buildup for a wet fart of an ending for a season. Then it was staying on high note for just enough and then it *makes very long fart noise*. Luckily it had zero impact on second season. Something i generally do not like, lack of continuity, but in this case, considering first season finale, it was actually a good thing. But not for long. People talk about progressive garbage and unfortunately they are right. Initially this lesbian romance was it own small story ark, very tasteful, nonintrusive and fitting quite nicely in overall narrative. But even main narrative never reached height of first season. But then ending came in, like a friggin meteor, completely wiping out what little was built up in this season. With lesbian arc caming out, at high speed, from behind the corner and straight in your face. Again and again and again. As main story crumbled under weight of rapidly amassing stupidity, you just had one leftist point thrown at you after another. In a typical incompetent stupid nonsensical fashion, like dam breaking, releasing a river of excrement. Whole Gabriel "buildup" ended up, yet again, with wet fart, completely meaningless and irrelevant. What was the point for it?!?! No idea. Whole standoff between Heaven and Hell was turned into a soap opera farce, that can no longer be taken seriously, even considering this show lighthearted nature. I was disappointed with first season ending, but this one was next level of bad. If first was just meh, this one was horrible. What was whole point and conclusion of second season?! Gabriel shagging Beelzebub. Because **** you. And yes, they stuffed gay relationship between Aziraphale and Crowley in it at the end. Was it needed?! No. Did it fit into the story. Nope. But you know, The Message above all. They literally turned an amazing close(and somewhat nuance and loaded) friendship between superb main characters, into weepy **** gay love story, with just one scene. And while both were great, as expected, it felt that their heart was not really into this season. It felt more like going thru the motions, rather than exiting discovery. To me Muriel was GOAT of second season. She represents everything this show ought to be and is not. Excellent character, superb performance, simple but engaging plotline. 10/10 First season - 7/10 Second season - 1/10

Season 1 is worth watching because it was written from the original book and the BBC and Amazon prime weren't as interested in pushing DEI into every show. Season 2 (and likely season 3) was injected with DEI representation and a boring plot. These two things amplified each other so both are much more noticeable. It's one of the best examples of how to do inclusivity poorly. If you don't believe me, watch season 2 for yourself and you'll notice.

THANK YOU HUMANITY FOR THIS MASTERPIECE!! I am in love with Aziraphale and Crowley, perfect cast, gripping, beautiful but heartbreaking storyline — we can’t continue life on earth without another season!

They go full bud light and make everything about promoting homosexual relationships and discounting authority or traditional religion. Their egos pretend to be wiser than any higher power and lead people astray to pursue gratification of the ego and wrongdoing.

Absolutely adore this show! Season one had a great plot, and a wonderful sense of humor. The acting is on point! Can't go wrong with David Tennant and Michael Sheen. Season two was a great follow up to season one. Episode six is heart wrenching in all the right ways. Neil Gaiman gave us everything we wanted for the entire season, and an ending we didn't see coming (and didn't knew we needed). Super excited to see where he takes our beloved characters in season three. Chemistry between Tennant and Sheen really shines this season. Their banter is perfectly polished, and expertly written. Costuming is absolutely beautiful. Set dressing is also gorgeous. Everything about season two was top tier. Not a single complaint from this long time fan!

It was a really nice movie. I'm gonna thanks Neil Gaiman for this amazing season, I wish there will be season 3 soon in the future.

Delightful, clever, and heartfelt with the added bonus of incredible acting. Sheen and Tennant are a combined treasure. Really hope this show gets a third season!

I will never forget the moment I decided to give this show a shot. It was 3 years ago. I binged it in one night. It was magical. I watched the first season at least 5 times and never got bored with it. Every time I'm in need of comfort Good Omens doesn't disappoint. When the announcement came that they would make a second season I was overjoyed. Though I must admit I was a tad scared to watch it when it was released. I was afraid it wouldn't be as good as the first season. And I somewhat put off watching it, because you can watch something for the first time only once. I think that statement alone should show what an amazing show Good Omens really is. A few days after S2 was released I finally couldn't hold off anymore and binged it. I laughed. I cried. I grieved. I was completely submerged into the show. I still haven't quite recovered. It's been a very long time since something made me feel so much. I expect I'll rewatch S2 at least as often as season 1. Every second of the show is worth it. It's a masterpiece like I haven't seen before. Summary: It's a Masterpiece (capital letter required)

This is a faithful adaptation of a humorous novel co-written by Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman. It is a quirky and lighthearted comfort tale about the apocalypse that doesn't explode onto the screen so much as charm its way in through a back window.

Spoiler free review: this was an amazing new season of Good Omens and I highly recommend this show to anyone and everyone. It was the best kind of fan-service. Well-written and stays true to Neil Gaiman's style and intentions and world building, but gives the fans what they want to see. This show has something for people who like every genre, every type of character, and every kind of story. The beauty and complexity of this story transcends gender, race, and religion while still commenting on all of those things in a very interesting way. Seriously - watch it. Spoilers ahead! I am HEARTBROKEN. I have never been so emotionally destroyed by any piece of media that I can remember. They gave us exactly what we wanted - Crowley confessed his love for Aziraphale, and they still couldn't be together. Once I remembered how to breathe and form complete sentences, I realized that this is, of course, an exceptional way to end the season. Good Omens, at its core, is about trying to do the right thing for yourself and for others while under the rule of authoritarian hierarchies that couldn't care less about the right thing, as long as they achieve power. It is fully in character for Aziraphale to have hope that with him in charge, he can change the way Heaven is run for the better. It is also fully in character for Aziraphale to rebuff Crowley and cling to what is most familiar to him: his faith that Heaven is good and righteous. However, my heart has been **** into millions of tiny, miniscule fragments. This is not to say that Neil Gaiman did anything wrong - quite the contrary. It is the mark of an excellent writer to be able to destroy viewers so completely. Amazon needs to agree to the terms of the SAG-AFTRA strike so we can get season 3 NOW!!

Had fun from start to finish with our lovely Michael Sheen and David Tennant. An amazing work!!!

The story is okay but it's really saved by David Tennant and Michael Sheen's characters and performances.

Although quirky and charming the series falls flat in a few different ways. The plot is shallow and the characters in the series have almost no agency over it in the first place. This isn't bad when David Tennant and Michael Sheen are on screen, but the other characters feel entirely out of place. The best part about this show is the fact it's a miniseries. It's quick to get through and doesn't overstay it's welcome like many American shows of similar quality. It's certainly good enough to watch, especially if you just want to experience the banter between the two main characters.

A brilliant show that excelled my expectations, and I loved every minute of it.
