A coming-of-age comedy set in the "go-go" 80s that is equal parts hijinks and heartfelt about a college student enjoying a last hurrah before summer comes to an end--and the future begins. David Myers, an assistant tennis pro at the Red Oaks Country Club in suburban New Jersey in 1985, is both reeling from his father's heart attack and conflicted about what major to declare in the fall. While there, he meets a colorful cast of misfit co-workers and wealthy club members including an alluring art student named Skye and her corporate raider father Getty.

But it remains galvanizing, as the honesty and maturity that made the series beloved by its small fandom persists, and those who’ve gone this far should take pleasure in seeing how things turn out for the dreamers, the boomers, and everyone looking for solace in this long, quick life of ours.
It’s a sweet, well-made show. It may not dominate the conversation of the internet, but it’s certainly worth talking about.
Aside from the sheer enjoyment that comes from watching the delightful and whip-smart comedy, there’s a case to be made for Red Oaks as the most significant nostalgia-infused TV series currently streaming.
