Set in a dystopian future when women have stopped having children, "The Lottery" reveals a world staring down the barrel of impending extinction. Remarkably, 100 embryos are successfully fertilized and a national lottery is held to decide the surrogates. As conflict, control and mystery over this global crisis unfolds, the government’s interests and power begin to dominate, igniting a highly controversial debate over our fundamental and personal freedom to raise a family.

Robert Lloyd · Los Angeles Times 70.00/100.00

The action is active, the suspense tense, the actors game. It seems a little silly at times, but meet it halfway and the hour passes painlessly.

Jeff Korbelik · The Lincoln Journal Star 75.00/100.00

The pilot is a little uneven. There’s a villain (played by Martin Donovan) within the government, but his agenda is extremely unclear, and the story of the recovering alcoholic dad seems to have little connection to the lottery. Still, the premise is intriguing--a “what if” kind of science fiction story that makes you think.

Mark A. Perigard · Boston Herald 83.00/100.00

If The Lottery can keep up the promise of its premiere, it will punch a winning ticket.
