Ed Bark · Uncle Barky 58.00/100.00

It’s basically another short-burst, talking heads/clip show with too much to cover and not nearly enough time to do so.

Verne Gay · Newsday 67.00/100.00

This can sometimes be an exercise in rehashing as opposed to reassessment.... The Seventies, however, gets better when the story gets stronger, or at least more resonant.

David Hinckley · New York Daily News 60.00/100.00

There’s nothing wrong with a warm rhapsody on the flowering of television. But when a TV series starts that way, it feels like it’s saying, “But first, a word about us.” And then we get to all the other stuff.

David Wiegand · San Francisco Chronicle 50.00/100.00

Judging by the first episode, The Seventies may enlighten those who didn’t live through those years, and serve as a pleasant but unremarkable refresher course for those who did.
