2019年度观影十佳第二部，奥利佛·斯通将自己母亲的故事搬上了银幕，从母亲的女性视角出发看待越南这个美丽的国家，贫瘠又动荡的故土，独特的视野体现了战争的残酷。世上的幸福大抵相似，苦难却各有不同，当战争让越南姑娘黎里一步步走入军营，供人消遣的时候，个人在撕裂的国与家的夹缝中残喘的压迫感非常真实。 奥利佛·斯通的母亲从战乱的越南漂洋过海到美国，在天与地之间显得柔韧又刚强，镜头里的越南呈现出了油画一般的艳丽色彩，我相信这是经过他或者经过他母亲回忆美化之后才形成的画面，没有人愿意沉浸在悲痛之中。画面隽永，情感扎实，一部难得的佳片。
