There was a time when the world asked ordinary men to do extraordinary things.

Drawn from interviews with survivors of Easy Company, as well as their journals and letters, Band of Brothers chronicles the experiences of these men from paratrooper training in Georgia through the end of the war. As an elite rifle company parachuting into Normandy early on D-Day morning, participants in the Battle of the Bulge, and witness to the horrors of war, the men of Easy knew extraordinary bravery and extraordinary fear - and became the stuff of legend. Based on Stephen E. Ambrose's acclaimed book of the same name.

An extraordinary 10-part series that masters its greatest challenge: it balances the ideal of heroism with the violence and terror of battle, reflecting what is both civilized and savage about war. [7 Sept 2001, p.E1]

Greetings from Lithuania. "Band of Brothers" (2001) is hands down the most authentic WW2 series that i have ever seen. The Pacific which came later and i did enjoyed it, doesn't come close to this. This is an exceptionally realistic depiction of WW2 combat seen through the eyes of men from Airborne division. Everything in this show was exceptionally well made - as a huge fan of "Saving Private Ryan" i can safely say that this shows at some points surprised even that masterpiece. Directing, music, writing, acting, sound design and set design truly delivers viewer to time and place. The story of these heroes sacrificing everything on a cold and bloody battlefields will make you think of at what cost war comes. Overall, "Band of Brothers" is an exceptional piece of film making that urge everyone to watch or revisit. Its a one you will never forget.

No pair of actors on any other show, new or old, on any network is as pleasurable to behold as these two. [1 Oct 2004]
